RAPPLER LIVE JAM: IV OF SPADES

IV of Spades is a Filipino funk band shaped in 2014. The lineup consists of lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, lead singer and guitar player Unique Salonga, drummer Badjao De Castro, and bassist and singer Zild Benitez. The band was supported by Allan "Daddy A" Silonga (Blaster Silonga's father) who is their manager. They're influenced by a combination of discotheque, classic rock, and hip-hop. The band is known for their 1970s-inspired outfits. Last 25th of January, 2018, the 4-piece band performed for a live jam at the Rappler Headquarters bringing funk into the scene. Moreover, the members are even fairly young. Their ages range from seventeen to twenty-three. IV of Spades is taking the native music scene by storm, not solely with their fun, pop-funk tunes, however conjointly with the visuals that go along with the package. The group members are perpetually titled in bright ’70s-inspired getups, whether it’s for an interview, a gig, or their music videos. The funk band is said to be reviving the music industry in the Philippines. The Beatles would run for their money if they co-existed with IV of Spades in their lifetime. You can say that the colorful world of the 70’s inspired their work. Retro, disco, classic rock, and hip-hop all merged into an IV of Spades single.
